Jill and David

?

Hello,

We are Jill and David from Southern California near Santa Barbara.? Thank you for taking the time to get to know us!? By sharing our story with you, we hope to give you confidence that your child will be welcomed with open arms into our family if you select us as adoptive parents. We believe that adoption is a blessing to all involved and as a couple we are excited and ready to adopt a child that we already hold in our hearts and imagine in our dreams.

The two of us married in 1996 having met in the mid-west strictly by chance in 1994.? Neither of us had planned to attend the mid-week event at a local hotspot but at the last minute, Jill took herself and David went with some close friends.?? Jill noticed a cute guy moving through the crowd like he owned the place.? David noticed a new face and she took his breath away.? Trying to decide how to get introduced to her, he came up with the following idea: hand her a napkin with options on it and see how she responds.? Borrowing a pen from a friend, he wrote the following on the napkin with a check-box next to each option:? 1.? I would like to dance.? 2.? I would like to talk.? 3.? I would like to talk and dance.? 4.? I would like you to leave me alone.? Feeling confident but not too cocky, he whisked by dropping the napkin within easy reach of Jill and headed back outside to avoid the disappointment he believed would be option 4.? Two minutes, which seemed like an hour, went by and then suddenly she appeared, handed him the napkin and returned inside.? The option that was checked?? Number 3, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Jill grew up in Wisconsin and moved to California when she was 12.? She is the middle child with an older brother and younger sister.? Her family lives a few miles away and we see them often for birthday parties, football games or other celebrations and enjoy great food, card games, horseshoes or a spirited game of croquet.?? Holidays bring the family together for coloring Easter eggs, trick-or-treating, making and decorating Christmas cookies at our parents and enjoying a Thanksgiving feast or celebrating new year?s and of course, out come all the decorations for the season.

Jill is always actively planning, building or fixing.? She likes to work with her hands sewing a candy corn Halloween costume for a niece or making a holiday dress for our annual New Year?s Party.? There is always time for making a necklace and matching pair of earrings for her sister, changing the yard landscape by planting a new palm tree or cactus and planting vegetables in her parents garden.? On any given day she might be found painting a room at our cabin, or installing a tile or wood floor.? Jill?s activities have earned her a VIP parking spot at Home Depot.

?

Jill has an A.S in graphic design and a B. S. in mechanical engineering and is currently the Quality Assurance Engineer at a local aerospace company where she has been since 2008.? When the baby arrives, Jill plans to work part time from home as much as possible as being a mom will be her first priority.

David spent time in many states while growing up, including those on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts due partly because his dad was in the Navy.? By the time he was 7, his family settled down in Indiana where he spent the next 26 years.? The youngest child with two older sisters,? his sisters loved to sneak up on him while he was sleeping and scare him right out of his speed racer pj?s.? One morning, he snuck out of bed and hid outside their bedroom door as they plotted their next invasion.? Knowing their diabolical plan was imminent; he placed various stuffed animals in the bed and covered them up so it looked like he was still asleep.? As they approached, he hid behind the sofa in the living room, which was nearby.? All at once both sisters pounced on the bed, only to find he wasn?t there.? Let?s just say it was good he could out run them.

Much of the family now resides in Arizona, which is the perfect wintertime spot for our family gatherings during the holidays.? David is very passionate about family, writing, music and sports.? His writing includes a series of short fictional stories about football and the conflict that being a sports official has with maintaining the integrity of a sport that is consistently becoming more about entertainment than about the game.? Often the ?DJ? at family gatherings, David loves to spend time mixing music into play lists that include a wide variety of genres.? He was a varsity athlete in high school and at the time he graduated, was the only student ever to letter in multiple sports, become Drum Major of the high school band and finish academically in the top 20% of his class.

In college, he was vice president of the student government association, master of ceremonies for campus events and graduated with an A.S. in Broadcast Engineering and a B.A. in Mass Communications.? His passion for sports led to becoming a high school and NCAA football official.? He has the biggest heart and will help anyone who asks and often anonymously helps even those who don?t ask.? Having worked in many industries including radio and television, David is currently an architect in the Information Technology field for a local bank.

?

Our home is comfortable, warm and welcoming and a bedroom awaits the laughs and dreams of a child that will grow up in our house located in a cul-de-sac on a quiet street.? Year round, you can smell the freshness of the air from the Pacific Ocean, just 3 miles away.? Around the corner from our home are wonderful schools, a library, and a couple of parks, shopping and several places of worship.? Bordered by beautiful mountains with many trails for hiking or bike riding, our neighborhood is safe and has many families with children.? There are also two great colleges in the immediate area.? Together we take walks on the beach, ride bikes down town to the wharf to get a cup of clam chowder, play tennis at a local club and swim in our parents pool.? Both of us are very active in our community as volunteers and activity coordinators for local non-profit organizations.

Family is an important part of our lives and we spend a lot of time with them.? There are lots of relatives and loving, doting grandparents waiting to play with our son or daughter.? Weekends we visit with family and friends, enjoy area festivals or community functions, putter around the house and do the grocery shopping.

Visiting our cabin in Las Padres National Forest is where we go to relax and enjoy all four seasons to the full extent.? There is always something fun to do at the cabin like going hiking through the pine trees and over the hills, playing tennis and swimming at the community center.? Making snow angles and snowmen during a snow storm and then warming up by the fire drinking hot chocolate and roasting marshmallows after a good snow ball fight is a winter time tradition.

The two of us can?t wait to share our various activities such as attending theater performances, dance, piano and singing recitals, parades and cheering at ball games with our child as we do now with our nieces.?? We look forward to all the joys and challenges of parenting.? Since we believe that nothing is greater than the imagination of a child, he or she will get lots of attention from both of us.? We will teach strong morals and values in a loving, safe and secure home.? We?ll support them when they struggle, applaud when they do well and offer guidance when they make mistakes. We?ll support opportunities to develop his or her own interests, talents and skills.? We?ll nurture their self-esteem, develop a joy for learning and encourage her or him to pursue activities that bring them happiness.

If you choose us, your child will grow up in a home filled with love, compassion, trust, and laughter and as often as needed, bedtime stories!

In closing, we thank you for taking the time to read and learn some about us.? We would be honored to be part of your adoption plan and would like to get to know you.? Whatever you decide, we truly wish you all the best in making this important decision for your child.
